‘Heyoung Campus’
– Introducing Sangmyung University’s
New Attendance App
By Chae-yun Lee, Reporter
Attendance is a crucial factor for university students, as it often directly impacts their grades. Sangmyung University is no exception. Until the first semester of 2025, students verified attendance either through the university’s own app, “Sangmyung Smart Attendance”, which used a Bluetooth-based system, or by traditional roll call. Starting from the second semester, however, the school plans to adopt a new system developed by Shinhan Bank: “Heyoung Campus”, a fully digitalized platform for attendance management.

What Makes Heyoung Campus Different?
Upon opening the Heyoung Campus app, students are greeted with a user-friendly interface. The “Academics” tab provides access to features such as a mobile student ID QR code, class schedules, and course announcements—functions that were previously scattered across the “Sangmyung Mobile Student ID” app. The “Benefits” tab offers information on reward points, coupons, and other perks. In addition, the “All Menu” tab consolidates various features, including “View Friends’ Timetables,” similar to the “Everytime” app, and “Cafeteria Menu Information,” linked directly to the school’s official website.
Several universities, including Ewha Womans University, Namseoul University, and Dong-Eui University, have already adopted the Heyoung Campus app. A student from Ewha shared her experience: “At first, I thought it would be inconvenient since it wasn’t a university-developed app, but I actually find the services, like HeyTalk, surprisingly useful.” Another student added that the integration of schedules and notices “saves time and reduces confusion compared to juggling multiple apps.”

Sangmyung University Partners with Heyoung Campus
Previously, Sangmyung University relied on multiple separate apps for different campus services, which often led to missed information. With Heyoung Campus bringing everything together in one place, students are expected to stay more informed about campus life. From library reservations and cafeteria updates to community activities, the new app could make daily campus life smoother and more connected.
Although it may take some time for students to get used to this new platform, the potential benefits—from streamlined attendance tracking to integrated campus services—are significant. As Sangmyung University joins the growing list of schools adopting Heyoung Campus, we look forward to seeing how this app will reshape and enrich student life in the semesters to come.
